The festival, organized by the Governor Office of the Ferghana province, UNESCO Tashkent Office, the Association “Hunarmand” of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Municipality of the City of Margilan, along with other international partners, plays a significant role in promoting Margilan’s renowned silk industry to the world and facilitating the exchange of ideas and experiences among individuals with a deep passion for crafts and the arts.
Since 2015, this international festival has been held biennially and focused on supporting creativity, preserving and promoting traditional textile products, and strengthening the connection between cultural heritage and sustainable development.
The festival focused on safeguarding and promoting traditional textile-making techniques critical to preserving intangible cultural heritage.
This year’s event also contributed to sustainable economic growth by providing a platform for artisans, designers, and fashion specialists to exchange ideas, allowing ancient traditions to evolve and thrive within the modern creative economy.
Such collaboration helps preserve ancient traditions and enables their development, ensuring that the craft culture and broader creative economy remain vibrant and relevant.
The festival includes participants from various countries, including Australia, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, India, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Portugal, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Estonia, and Switzerland.
